Let's talk about Olivia Rodrigo at the VMAs and Taylor Swift feud rumors

Okay, I have to say it, Olivia Rodrigo might be giving the pop girlies a run for their money.

I haven’t seen someone serve this hard since the OG 2010s iconic pop Disney girls.

And after what feels like swimming in a massive pool filled with superficial boring stars, Olivia is actually giving main pop girl energy.

Her new album GUTS just came out recently and I for one am a fan.

I still think she could’ve done a better cover than this… see I’m not completely delusional.

Her music is very unique with her vibe and she’s not afraid to take risks. The whole “edgy pop-rock teen” gives me Miley Cyrus vibes from 2008 and if I’m biased, well can you blame me?

Let’s talk about her red carpet look.

As basic as a sparkling silver dress is, I loved this look. Everything about it from the slick long black hair to the excessively high heels, it was a moment for sure.

Which is funny considering I used to declare myself an “anti-silver red carpet dress” girlie— thanks to the Kradashian/Jenner gang who spent all of 2016 wearing the same thing, but I guess Olivia softened our stone cold hearts.

Or I just live for an iconic look from our pop girlies.

Live Performance

Olivia is very creative and even though she isn’t doing much in her performances, I feel like she is giving us a performances and music that aren’t as saturated as how pop music is now.

Her Vampire set up was cute, it was identical to how the music video looked like and she even did the same act of someone rushing her off the stage as it falls apart.

It was cute, nothing crazy.

What I loved was the transition from Vampire to Get Him Back. Right as she’s running “off” the stage, there’s a curtain that drops and they play a distorted version of her song “Good 4 u” before cutting right into Get Him Back.

It’s just…I mean you cant rush art. or maybe I’m being too nice.

She was very balanced and creative during this part of the performance. I love the little “school girl cliques” vibes and how she was in red and they were in pink. It is different than the usual performances that have been saturating the pop industry.

Feud With Taylor Swift?

Oh boy do I have news for you…just not in this post 😉😉😉

Olivia and her ex-idol Taylor Swift are clearly no longer friends. Olivia is no longer ‘Taylor’s baby 🥺’ nor is Taylor ‘Olivia’s idol.’

Why? Simple. Don’t meet your heros, odds are you’re not gonna like them.

Well, unless you’re Justin Bieber and you develop a personal relationship with your “fans-turned-singers.”

Sorry—it’s just, give credit where credit is due. Taylor literally ate Olivia simply for getting inspiration from her. I think it’s very telling what type of person Taylor is just from that alone and from what Olivia has hinted at in interviews.

KELIA ANNE FOR TIME

(Sorry to all my swifie readers, I’m really trying here lmao)

So what is Taylor going to be doing at award shows? Show face.

That’s whether she’ll be fake supporting her toxic bestie singing about the same dead relationship for the 900th time, or cheer and clap when your name gets announced amidst feud rumors.

She does it as a power tactic, one for the person and one for the media. Taylor makes it look like there isn’t really a feud and she’s still all up in your face when you’re annoyed with her most.

Hope you enjoyed tonight’s posts!
