Dark Hollywood: Industry Plants and Grooming. Is Dua Lipa an industry plant?

The revival of our Dark Hollywood series is here and it’s gonna be darker than ever. If this is your first time hearing of Dark Hollywood on this blog, check out the Dark Hollywood Tag

Understand that everything we explain and the words we define are from our knowledge and our definition. No one teaches a class on Dark Hollywood (well except us), so this is our collective experience from stories we have heard/experienced; either firsthand or from sources.

Let’s begin…

Industry Plants

An industry plant is an artist that has special connections (such as corporations or family) that not only enabled their rise to fame, but instead of being honest about their rise, they have a fake story in place.

These fake or exaggerated stories can be as elaborate to the extent of faking a poverty story or faking an organic story.

A poverty story is a celebrity lying about growing up poor.

An example of faking an organic story is a celebrity lying about being discovered by an agent meanwhile there were connections put in place this whole time.

Do not confuse this with promotions or marketing.

Nowadays it’s popular to try to get a viral song on TikTok and celebrities will do something like “the label won’t release my music until I do good on TikTok” or “did I just write the next heartbreak anthem” trend on TikTok. That’s not what an industry plant is.

Simply lying about your discovery isn’t exactly an industry plant either.

Industry plants I’ve heard of have had elaborate schemes and this goes into part 2 of this post which is “grooming” and I’ll get into that later.

A lot of people mistake industry plants for manufactured puppets. When an artist’s sound and image are perfectly curated by their label or team, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re manufactured, but there is a degree to which extent they can take it.

For example, one can argue that those on X-Factor are industry plants or manufactured puppets, but that isn’t necessarily the case.

When an artist agrees to do anything they can—even if they don’t like it—they are just manufactured puppets. Many artists go through that so they can build up their legacy and then later on in their career, they can start doing what they want to do.

A perfect example is Fifth Harmony. Fifth Harmony was put together on X-Factor USA and they were put together with a purpose—they wanted each girl to look very diverse and different so they can cater to a wide audience. If the fans can relate, they can achieve a more emotional connection.

Fifth Harmony was also heavily criticized because they didn’t have a say in the creative world of their era. They sang the songs they were given. They posed the way they were told. They released music that was going to do good on pop radio. They played the role.

I like to think of industry plants as a little darker, but since industry circles run small, so do these definitions. The criteria I personally have may cater to a small group of artists, whilst you reading may believe that those cookie-cutter manufactured artists are also industry plants.

Many people believe that Ariana Grande is an industry plant because she comes from a rich and privileged family. She didn’t grow up poor, she had the funds to go to schools that trained her to be a celebrity, and all-in-all had the connections.

But… Ariana doesn’t lie about her upbringing. She doesn’t bring attention to it, yes, but she also didn’t put in place a fake poverty story (at least to my knowledge).

Essentially, an industry plant is someone who has BEEN discovered for years and has slept around with the right people to garner the best connections; and those are the people that are going to spend the money to make them happen.

When they debut, they will have a fake story put in place about how they grew up in some third-world country and wrote all this music whilst striving for a better life.

Whole time? They’ve been discovered but kept on the shelf for a few years—while sleeping with executive producers—until the time was right to debut them with a song that is assured to be a hit.

People believe this is the case with Dua Lipa.

Dua Lipa

The story goes…

  • Dua was discovered by someone who introduced her to Simon Cowell

  • She was put on the shelf for many years whilst being passed around

  • She started going viral on social media for her song New Rules in 2018

  • That was when she was removed off the shelf and was thrown into being an international pop star

Look at her now…

A huge name in music.

Social media luck sometimes plays into it, but in 2013, she signed a contract with Tap Management while working as a waitress in a cocktail bar. She moved from label to label and released little songs here and there, but was ultimately kicked to stardom in 2020 with her Future Nostalgia album.

That was actually regarded as her debut album since her self-titled in 2017 didn’t make much noise.

And according to the theory that she was an industry plant, when it was time to take her off the shelf and make her an international popstar, she suddenly had all the connections and was given the best opportunities possible.

As for how she got discovered, the story is through her youtube covers and by working really hard.

Do you believe that Dua Lipa is an industry plant? Let me know.

Grooming

Grooming is typically defined as the action by a pedophile of preparing a child for a meeting, especially via an internet chat room, with the intention of committing a sexual offense.

That is a general term that is used in regular day-to-day life.

For celebrities, it differs a little bit.

Grooming in Dark Hollywood is when a superior in the industry takes on a young artist/actor/etc., as a guardian role, but really offers them around to sleep around in order to secure higher-up connections.

Do you now see how that intertwines with Industry Plants?

When an individual is put on a “shelf” in the industry, they’re not just going about until they’re ready to be debuted in the music world. Instead, they’re propped around as trophies and introduced to many different kinds of people that can make them happen.

Jeffery Epstein groomed a lot of young children with a promise to secure a life for them in different kinds of fields.

Let me give you an example.

Say we got this artist, let’s call her Maya.

Maya is beautiful and talented, but why make a life of fame and fortune easy for her when you can benefit from her?

Jeffery had a lot of associates that would fly with him to his private island where his forte was sex trafficking. One thing all these documentaries fail to mention is how a lot of these well-known celebrities were flown to the island or to other places really.

There, Maya met many types of powerful people that could advance her connections. All she had to do was play a role… whatever role they wanted in service.

Say for example, some powerful CEO named Luke is who introduced Maya to all these big names.

Big names are happy with Luke’s service = More opportunities open up for Luke to possibly lure in future industry plants or victims of grooming = industry plant graduates the grooming level = Maya is an international superstar = everyone makes money

Like I said, a lot goes into it, but this is usually the track that’s planned out.

There are extreme cases and cases that aren’t so extreme but had unfortunate run-ins that are now in the past.

There are endless examples.

Remember the rape rooms I exposed in regard to Miley Cyrus? Funny how Marilyn Manson’s victim came out to say that these rape rooms exist.

It’s very deep and dark…
